Chuck vs Tom Sawyer

After Chuck flashes on a a nuclear terrorist at the  Buy More, who is searching for Jeff, he must hang out with Jeff to find out why he’s being targeted. The team comes to find out that they will need Jeff’s help prevent a nuclear attack. Chuck also has to try to explain his strange behavior to the quirky Buy More efficiency expert.

Trivia

Casey’s line of “Bogeys bugging out and going home” is a reference to Goose’s famous line the 1986 movie Top Gun.

The Buy More efficiency expert played by Tony Hale is introduced as the new assistant manager Emmett Milbarge. His name is a reference to Spies Like Us, as it combines the names of the main characters, Emmett Fitz-Hume (played by Chevy Chase) and Austin Milbarge (played by Dan Aykroyd).

We learn Chuck’s full name which is Charles Irvin Bartowski.

In an early scene, you see Jeff flanked by 2 babes being interviewed by a TV reporter. This almost exactly matches a dream sequence in Fast Times at Ridgemont High when character named Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) is doing the same thing. In the closing scene, you hear Jeff use the phrase, “Hey, bud…let’s party” which is the same line Spicoli uses in Fast Times.
